Lake House Fun

During Spring Break James Thomas went on a little vacation to Mimi and Papaw's house. I don't have any pictures from his stay but he had a wonderful timing playing, being spoiled, and getting 100% attention 100% of the time. James and I also had a wonderful vacation at home. Great dinners out, a couples massage, the NCAA tournament, it was just the down time we needed.
Once I picked up James Thomas we packed the car and headed to the lake to end our spring break. We had quite an adventure as James Thomas went fishing for the very first time and actually caught a fish! He was so proud! Reese, his cousin was there, and they played played and played their little hearts out. Pitching washers, doing sidewalk chalk, more fishing, back and forth between baby dolls and trains, it was fun to watch them interact. We can not wait to get back up there and make many more memories.

We got to top the wonderful week off with dinner at Clay's. If you live in Houston this is the place to go with the kids. At first James Thomas would not get the courage up to ride the real horse so he spent much of his time on the pretend one. After watching everyone else go, he was able to muster up the courage and go for it! We were very proud of him for riding the pony!
When James and I got married and joined Second Baptist Church we were blessed to be in a small group with some amazing couples. 7+ years later we are all still great friends and our kids love to get together. We always enjoy our time with these awesome families! We can't wait to get together again soon!

RODEO FUN

We have had lots of RODEO fun at our house. We were planning to go down and enjoy the rodeo festivities the first weekend but during Chili cook off they don't have lots for the little kids. We decided to head to the zoo instead. We had a wonderful morning visiting the animals, riding the carousel multiple times and a nice train ride. The zoo was empty and I heard one of the zoo keepers say that during rodeo season it is always dead. So, if your looking for something fun to do this month, head down to the zoo.

The next week I was lucky enough to go to the rodeo and see Lady Antebellum in concert with girlfriends. It was a nice treat! That Saturday we took James Thomas and he absolutely loved it. We saw lots of animals, did rides, and enjoyed some fried fair food! The mutton busting and camel rides were the biggest hits! I know this will become a wonderful tradition that James Thomas will love more and more as he gets older.

January

January was a very fun month for us. Our neighborhood had a snow day at the park. I think James Thomas will enjoy the snow more next year but we still wanted him to try it out. So, James attempted to sled down the hill and unfortunately, he could not hold JT and the sled so they toppled over. Every time we mention snow day, James Thomas reminds us, "You dropped me, Daddy!" I don't think he will be able to milk that one much longer! We had fun playing with all our neighbors at the park and eating donuts. James Thomas' favorite part of snow day was definitely the donuts. (I think he ate three large donuts!!!)

We have been wanting to buy James Thomas a play set for a long time. We finally went out and did it and he is already making many memories. We are happy with our purchase. The rain has held us back a little but James Thomas and Lydia already call it their ship and they try and stay away from pirates!!!!

James Thomas got into my make up drawer and thought it was too funny that he painted his face!!! He is such a goober.

Last our little Baylor Bear!!! James and I bought this jersey in San Antonio when we were at the Alamo Bowl. On Super Bowl Sunday the kids wore jerseys of their favorite team. There is no doubt, THE BAYLOR BEARS, are the favorites in this house.

October-December

I have been horrible at blogging and am sad because we have been doing some really fun things. I also want to have a place where I post my pictures besides Facebook. So, I am going to do a better job and try to post twice a month. That is not too much to take on, right?????

We had a wonderful Fall and Christmas holiday. It is my favorite time of the year. 2012 is off to a great start as well. The Garretts are in a wonderful season of life right now. We have lots to be thankful for and are filled with God's love and grace. Beware there are LOTS of pictures!

October: We got to attend our 3rd annual Halloween party at the Chambers home. James and I love dressing up and it has quickly become a fun tradition. This was our first year to trick or treat and we went around our new neighborhood. James Thomas loved trick or treating with Luke and Avery. And last we had our first train accident. James Thomas is slightly obsessed with trains. I hear him screaming one afternoon and sure enough he got the train wheels stuck in his hair. I thought we were going to have to cut those curls but as I was going to get the scissors he yanked it out himself. It was a close call!!!

November: We got to kick off November with Baylor Homecoming. What a year Baylor had!!! James and I bought season tickets and had the best time watching Robert Griffin III earn his Heisman Trophy. We spent Thanksgiving in Johnson City and James Thomas got to experience his first Lights Spectacular. Johnson City does an amazing job lighting up the entire town and having lots of entertainment for the kids. The hay ride was a hit.

December: I don't even know where to start with December. I kicked off the Christmas season with a cookie exchange party at my house. The best way to describe it is to say, "It was DELICIOUS!" I hope to do it again next year. We also made many trips to the Galleria, had lots of friends over to play and craft, and baked, baked, baked, and baked some more. My dad turned 60 in December and we had a nice party for him at Cliff and Sarah's. We hosted Christmas this year at our house. James' entire family was here off and on the week of Christmas. It was special to see everyone and celebrate Jesus' birthday! We ended 2011 with a trip to San Antonio to see Baylor in the Alamo Bowl and then off to New Orleans to ring in the New Year! I did not bring my camera to New Orleans but we had a great time with the Joneses. They were so nice to invite us and let us bunk up in their hotel room!
